Elena Faita arrived in Quebec with her family in 1954 at the age of 7 years. Shortly after their arrival, her father and her brothers founded the Dante hardware, the then first Italian hardware store in Montreal. Young Elena could see her family’s investment in this project, and that’s how she discovered two basic values of entrepreneurship: rigor and passion. As soon as she was of working age, she invested herself in the hardware store. Each family member brought in his own way, his reinforcement and skills. Thanks to this teamwork, the hardware store has continued to grow.

Each family business can give birth to another

Then in turn, the children of Elena, inspired by their mother, came to help and get to the shop. The arrival of her daughter Christina encouraged the birth of cooking school, Mezza Luna. Stefano, her son, joined at 17. He has acquired several qualities, the meaning of sale, interpersonal skills and the spirit of a manager. Stimulated by this true entrepreneurial school, he later opened two restaurants: Impasto and Gema.

Each family business can give birth to another. This is Intrapreneurship; an act of behaving like an entrepreneur while working within a large organization. It incorporates risk-taking and innovation approaches, as well as the reward and motivational techniques.
